They'll win, since they get more resources every turn. You need to do enough damage quickly to even the odds at the very least, and you really don't want to fight a battle of attrition against the AI. Because you need to do this again next map, so you'd better maximise your hero strength. * Once the humans are (almost) defeated, hold off on seizing the capital and instead explore the rest of the map, so all your heroes are max level and you get all the magic items you can carry. You should be able to cripple Isabella by turn 20-30. * Seize as many cities as quickly as possible. Have your flying heroes (Hopefully you have flying mounts) stay off the water altogether if you can. Use scouts to look for ships and cross quickly when you can. * Gather up every last soldier you have and immediately head south to attack Isabella. 2 will join you for free if you do it right. * Get the giants south of your starting position. * Land, splitting up your troops and heroes in two roughly even stacks for faster exploration. until the AI can swamp them with numbers. You only have one thing going for you: strong heroes. The AI researches faster, builds faster, has more gold and more mana, and besides gets substantial income bonuses even on normal difficulty.
You can't spend time building up, because those many cities mean the AI will build up faster and steamroll you. * The enemy starts with a good army, lots of cities, and weak heroes. * You start with a weak/mediocre army, no cities, and strong heroes. "Building up in peace" is tricky at the best of times in AoW3, but in the later campaign missions it is wholly impossible. Where do you go or what do you do to start cities away from Izabella so you can start to build up in peace?
